In June 2024, I took part in the annual student printmaking exhibition of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, titled Art is an Act of Total Attention, curated by the Center for Printmaking. The exhibition opened at the Center’s gallery and brought together works that reflect the concerns and thoughts of a new generation of artists.

Through our prints, we explored themes such as the ephemerality of the individual, the precarity of the artist’s role, emotional fluctuations during personal growth, the influence of pop culture and kitsch, sexuality, discrimination, and efforts toward emancipation. There were also works addressing introspection and environmental issues, reflecting a shared interest in using art to engage with contemporary social questions.

As one of the participants, I used this opportunity to reflect both inwardly and outwardly—to engage with personal and political themes, and to approach printmaking as a medium for questioning, resisting, and expressing. While the exhibition was curated, our works remained uncensored and deeply personal—marked by authenticity, vulnerability, and a diversity of poetic voices.

I’m proud to have been part of this generation of students who use their creative practice to raise questions and push boundaries, both conceptually and visually.
